The judgment, delivered by Justice A. S. Ibrahim in the suit marked HCL/16/2023, found that the Senator failed to justify several damaging allegations leveled against the former governor. The court’s decision was contained in a Certified True Copy dated April 23, which was made available to the public on Friday.

2. Court Orders Arrest Of Lawyer, Police Officer Over Delay In ₦300m Eviction Suit

ABUJA, NIGERIA — An Abuja High Court sitting in Maitama has ordered the immediate arrest of a legal practitioner, Victor Giwa, and a police officer, Inspector Edith Erhunmuuse, following their repeated failure to appear for trial.

The duo is facing charges related to an alleged ₦300 million illegal eviction suit. Justice Samira Bature issued the bench warrant on Friday, expressing dissatisfaction with what she described as deliberate delay tactics and a blatant disregard for judicial authority.

7. EFCC Arrests Ex-Skye Bank Chairman Tunde Ayeni Over N36.5bn Fraud

ABUJA, NIGERIA — The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has taken into custody a prominent businessman and former chairman of Skye Bank Plc, Tunde Ayeni, over alleged multi-billion naira fraud.

Sources familiar with the operation told NaijaChoice News that operatives arrested Ayeni in Abuja on Thursday. He remains in EFCC custody as investigators intensify their work.

The anti-graft agency is examining claims of diversion and misappropriation involving funds estimated at N36.5 billion and $30 million. These sums were reportedly secured from Polaris Bank Plc through companies associated with the businessman.

8. Federal Government Approves ₦10bn Civil Servants Housing Loan

Abuja, Nigeria —  The Federal Government has approved a ₦10 billion housing loan scheme to boost home ownership among civil servants, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, announced on Friday.

Walson-Jack made the disclosure during a press briefing in Abuja, stating that the facility would be implemented through the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria and the Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board.

According to her, the scheme seeks to promote stability and higher productivity within the civil service by helping workers secure their own homes.

9. Oyedepo: Give Kidnappers My Number for Release

Ogun , Nigeria — Bishop David Oyedepo, founder and presiding bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, also known as Winners’ Chapel, has recounted dramatic cases of divine intervention in kidnapping attempts involving members of his ministry.

The cleric, one of Nigeria’s most influential Pentecostal leaders, shared the experiences during a church service to strengthen the faith of believers.

In one incident, a pastor attached to the church was abducted by kidnappers. Oyedepo said he directed that his personal phone number be passed to the captors.

10. OSOGBO — Oyebamiji Campaign Donates ₦1m to LAUTECH Best Graduand

The campaign organisation of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, All Progressives Congress candidate for the August 15 Osun State governorship election, has donated N1 million to Oladepo Caleb Olugbenga, the overall best graduating student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso.

Oladepo, an indigene of Ijimoba in Ejigbo Local Government Area of Osun State, earned a CGPA of 4.89 out of 5.0 in Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the university’s 18th convocation. He hails from a humble background in an agrarian community and publicly credited the Nigerian Education Loan Fund for supporting his studies.
