Ebira Witchcraft Association Issues Ultimatum to Kogi Govt, Demands Action on Infrastructure by September

The Association of Ebira Witchcraft, led by Her Majesty Inya Oyarazi Kudi Attah, has formally presented a list of demands to Kogi State Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, setting a strict deadline for the first week of September 2026. The group, claiming to represent the people of Kogi Central Senatorial District, emphasized that failure to address these issues would be seen as deliberate neglect of the Ebira community.

In a letter dated Saturday, the association highlighted longstanding grievances, including the lack of basic amenities in Ebira land and surrounding areas. Topping the list is the provision of clean and regular water supply, which the group described as a fundamental human right rather than a political favor. “Access to clean and regular water supply remains a luxury in Ebira land and surrounding communities. We demand immediate intervention through boreholes, water schemes, and sustainable infrastructure,” the letter stated.

The witches also called for the total rehabilitation of schools in Kogi Central, noting that the district has fewer than 47 functional primary and secondary institutions, many in deplorable states. They demanded furniture, learning materials, and qualified teachers, arguing that neglecting education is an attack on the future of Ebira children. “Education is the foundation of development,” the association asserted.

Further demands include the reconstruction of an ultra-modern motor garage in Okene to match the area’s population, economic significance, and modern safety standards. The group criticized existing park infrastructure as inadequate for boosting commerce and urban dignity. Additional points raised in the letter involve a “” and a warning that Governor Ododo’s re-election prospects could be jeopardized if the demands are ignored.

While acknowledging government efforts in digital education, such as e-libraries, the association stressed that these are misplaced priorities without foundational infrastructure like water and functional schools. The letter also addressed former Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello, urging accountability for past administrations’ failures.

NaijaChoice News gathered that chapters in Kogi West and East senatorial districts are preparing similar demands, signaling potential statewide mobilization. Social media reactions have been mixed, with many Nigerians expressing amusement and surprise at the development. On X (formerly Twitter), users commented on the irony of witches advocating for good governance, with one post noting, “I’m glad even the witches now want good governance.” Others highlighted Nigeria’s unique surprises, questioning the seriousness of the association’s emergence.

As of now, the Kogi State Government has not issued an official response to the letter. NaijaChoice News will continue to monitor developments in this unusual call for infrastructural reforms, which underscores broader challenges in rural development across the state.
