ABUJA, Nigeria – Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration as the most shameless government in Nigeria’s history.

In a strongly worded statement posted on his verified X handle on Tuesday, Abdullahi pointed to what he described as deliberate attempts by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to destabilise opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.

2. VDM-BLord Handshake Shifts Focus to Sowore

Popular social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) and businessman BLord were seen exchanging handshakes outside the Federal High Court premises here on Monday in a moment that has left Nigerians divided.

The brief but symbolic interaction occurred after court proceedings in the long-running impersonation case involving the duo. In a video that has since gone viral, BLord, smiling, approached VDM alongside his lawyer, leading to the handshake. 3. Malami Challenges EFCC Over N213bn Property Forfeiture

ABUJA, Nigeria – Former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), has filed a strong legal challenge at the Federal High Court in Abuja against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over the interim forfeiture of 57 properties linked to him and members of his family.

4. Court Adjourns Suit Seeking Deregistration Of ADC, Others To May 5

Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court Abuja, has adjourned hearing in a suit filed by the National Forum of Former Legislators (NFFL), seeking the deregistration of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Accord Party, Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), and Action Alliance (AA) over an alleged breach of Section 225 of the 1999 Constitution.

Justice Lifu fixed May 5 for a hearing after granting the NFFL leave to amend its originating summons to formally include other political parties allegedly found to be in breach of constitutional provisions alongside the ADC. The plaintiffs had sought the amendment, arguing that the affected political parties must be properly joined in the suit.

5. Lagos Seals Power Deal With 3 Firms, Eyes 400MW

Lagos State Government has signed a landmark Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with three electricity generation companies in a strategic move to significantly boost energy supply and strengthen the state’s power infrastructure.

The agreement, signed on Sunday at Lagos House, Marina, was witnessed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, while the Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Abiodun Ogunleye, signed on behalf of the state government.

6. Sowore Slams ADC as APC Recycled Politicians

LAGOS, Nigeria  — Human rights activist and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has sharply criticised the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the ongoing opposition coalition efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing the movement as one dominated by recycled politicians from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

7.  NDC Alleges Torture of Defected Member, Demands Release from Kogi Police Custody

LOKOJA, NIGERIA  — The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has raised an alarm over the alleged illegal detention and physical maltreatment of one of its members, Faruk Ozigi Onimisi, by the Kogi State Police Command.

According to a statement released by the party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Abdulmumin Ohiare Abdulsalam, Onimisi was reportedly seized from his residence in Kubwa, Abuja, in a manner described as “kidnapping style.”

9. 50 Killed In Adamawa, Benue, Plateau; 23 Pupils Kidnapped In Kogi

GOMBI, Adamawa State, Nigeria – No fewer than 29 persons were killed late Sunday night when suspected Boko Haram insurgents stormed Guyaku community in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State, throwing the border settlement into deep mourning.

NaijaChoice News reports that the heavily armed attackers operated for several hours, unleashing terror on defenseless residents, razing homes, burning places of worship, and destroying valuable property including motorcycles and other means of livelihood. The community, which shares borders with the dreaded Sambisa forest along the Adamawa-Borno federal highway, was left devastated.

10. Lagos Leads As Most Indebted State, Owes ₦1.22 Trillion, $1.17 Billion

LAGOS, Nigeria – Lagos State has emerged as the most indebted state in Nigeria, recording a total of N1.22 trillion in domestic debt and $1.17 billion in external debt as at the fourth quarter of 2025.

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) disclosed this in its Nigeria’s Q4 2025 Domestic and External Debt Report released on Monday. The report shows the country’s total public debt stock rose to N159.28 trillion ($110.97 billion) in Q4 2025, up from N153.29 trillion ($103.94 billion) in the third quarter, representing a 3.90 per cent increase quarter-on-quarter.
