1. 2027: ‘A Party Controlling 31 States Can’t Fear ADC’ — Governor Sule

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule has dismissed the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a negligible political threat ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The governor argued that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has no reason to feel threatened by an opposition party that does not control a single state in the country.

Sule made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, where he also expressed strong support for state policing as a solution to the terrorism and banditry challenges bedevilling the country.

2. Governors Forum Submits State Police Framework To NSA, Seeks NASS Backing

The Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) has submitted its input on the proposed state police framework to the Office of the National Security Adviser, with the document set to be forwarded to the National Assembly of Nigeria for legislative consideration.

The Chairman of the forum and Kwara State governor, Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, disclosed this on Sunday during a meeting with Bola Tinubu at his residence in Ikoyi, Lagos.

AbdulRazaq explained that consultations on the establishment of state police are ongoing among security stakeholders under the leadership of the National Security Adviser, noting that governors have now formally contributed to the process.

3. FG To Open Completed Portion Of 15km Enugu–Onitsha Expressway

The federal government has announced plans to inaugurate a completed 15-kilometre stretch of the Enugu–Onitsha Expressway to traffic before Easter, in a move aimed at easing transportation challenges and boosting economic activities in Nigeria’s South-east.

This is even as the Minister of Works, David Umahi, has said that the government inherited a total of N13trillion in debts and over 2,068 projects across the country.

Umahi disclosed this yesterday, during an inspection tour of ongoing federal road projects in Enugu.

The visit forms part of a nationwide tour across the six geopolitical zones to identify projects ready for inauguration ahead of May 29.

4.  Alleged Corruption: Court Adjourns El-Rufai’s Bail Hearing To March 31

A Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna State has adjourned proceedings on the bail application of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai to March 31st, 2026.

The decision followed Tuesday’s hearing, during which legal arguments were presented by both the prosecution and the defense.

At the court session, counsel to the defendant, Ukpon Akpan, urged the court to grant his client bail, citing constitutional rights and the need to allow the former governor adequate time to prepare his defense.

However, the prosecution opposed the application, arguing that the charges against El-Rufai are serious and that granting bail could interfere with ongoing investigations.

The former Kaduna State governor was arraigned by the ICPC over charges related to alleged corruption and abuse of office.

5. ‘I Was Invited By DSS For Questioning & Released’ — Kaduna Cleric, Ahmad Umar

Kaduna-based Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Tijjani Umar has firmly refuted claims that he was detained by the Department of State Services after hosting former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi in Kaduna on Sunday.

NaijaChoice News reports that Umar made the clarification in a viral video that surfaced hours after Obi’s Tuesday post on X, where the former Anambra governor alleged the cleric’s arrest. The video has since spread widely across social media platforms in Nigeria, sparking fresh debates on security agencies and political visits.

Obi had described the reported arrest as a troubling sign of threats to free speech and democracy in the country. In his statement, he noted that Umar was taken in by authorities shortly after their meeting, urging the government to uphold the rule of law and stop intimidation of citizens.
