Godwin Obaseki Eyes Edo South Senatorial Seat Under ADC

BENIN CITY, NIGERIA — Former Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has taken steps to contest the Edo South Senatorial District seat in the 2027 elections on the platform of the Action Democratic Congress (ADC).

Obaseki, who governed Edo from 2016 to 2024, first under the APC before switching to the PDP, built a record of infrastructure projects, including road networks, the Benin Science and Technology Park, and health sector reforms that many residents in the district still reference.

ADC in Edo State has witnessed internal crises over leadership, but loyalists believe Obaseki’s stature could unify factions and boost the party’s chances.
