The Federal Government on Sunday announced that electricity generation increased from 3,951MW to 4,300MW between March 28 and April 10.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued in Abuja by the Special Adviser to the Minister of Power on Strategic Communications and Media Relations, Mr Bolaji Tunji.
Tunji said the gradual rise in generation output within the period aligns with the assurance earlier given by the Minister of Power, Mr Adebayo Adelabu, at the Power Sector Working Group, where he pledged improved electricity supply within two weeks.
3. INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan Faces Mounting Pressure Over Alleged Partisan X Account
Nigerians have zeroed in on what they say is clear proof linking Independent National Electoral Commission Chairman, Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan, SAN, to an old X account that openly backed the All Progressives Congress and President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2023 polls.
The handle @joashamupitan, created in 2022, was changed to @Sundayvibe00 last week after old pro-APC tweets surfaced. The account was promptly protected and tagged a parody page, but the move only intensified public scrutiny.
4. Suspected Cult Leader, Yinka Agali Assassinated In Lagos
Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the assassination of Adedipe Adeyinkan, popularly known as Yinka Agali.
The suspected leader of the Buccaneers confraternity, also known as Brothers Across Nigeria (BAN), was killed on Saturday night, April 11, 2026, in the Iponri area of Surulere.
5. NNPC Revenue to N2.68 trillion Despite Output Drop
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) posted N2.68 trillion in revenue for February 2026.
This figure represents a 4.2 per cent rise from the N2.57 trillion recorded in January, even as crude oil production dropped to 1.51 million barrels per day from 1.64 million barrels per day.
The company’s latest monthly operational and financial report, released in Abuja, attributed the production decline mainly to pipeline outages and operational hitches across major assets.
6. Former Ogun Deputy Speaker Gbeleyi Declares for Ogun West Senate Seat, Unrolls Seven-Point Agenda
Rt. Hon. Otunba Olusegun Bolanle Gbeleyi has formally joined the race for the Ogun West Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections. The former Deputy Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly made the declaration during a ‘Meet the Press’ session organised by the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun West Independent Chapel, in Ota. NaijaChoice News reports that Gbeleyi, popularly known as OBG, pitched his ambition on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
He unveiled a seven-point manifesto tagged “Sustaining the Gains, Raising the Bar Higher.” The document focuses on practical solutions to long-standing challenges in the Yewa axis. Gbeleyi told journalists that his return to active politics is driven by a desire to use his legislative background and global contacts for the benefit of the district.
7. Boko Haram Used Drones “Like Ones Used In Israel & Ukraine” To Strike Army Convoy
Terrorists from the Islamic State-backed Boko Haram faction struck a Nigerian Army reinforcement convoy in Monguno, Borno State, using weaponised drones early Monday morning.
Military sources confirmed the incident, which claimed the life of Colonel I.A. Mohammed, Commanding Officer of the 242 Battalion, and at least six soldiers. The troops were responding to an earlier assault on a Forward Operating Base in Sector 3 under Operation Hadin Kai.
8. 2027: Okowa Declares For Senate, Apologises For Backing Ned Nwoko In 2023
Former Governor of Delta State Dr Ifeanyi Okowa is gearing up to re-contest the Delta North Senatorial District seat as Anioma leaders continue to mount pressure on him to run.
The development became evident on Sunday when high-profile political leaders in the Delta North Senatorial District besieged his residence in Asaba to make the request.
Among the leaders who stormed his residence was the Deputy Governor of the state, Sir Monday Onyeme, who led former and serving National Assembly members, as well as top government officials and politicians, to persuade him to run for the Senate seat in 2027.
9. VDM Reveals Victor Boniface, Phyno Appeals in Blord Detention Saga
VeryDarkMan has disclosed that Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface personally called him to plead on behalf of detained crypto entrepreneur Blord.
The activist made the revelation in a fresh video that has since gone viral across Nigerian social media platforms. He added that musician Phyno and several other prominent Nigerians he respects also reached out with similar appeals to settle the matter.
10. Makinde, Olubadan Slam Fayose Over Baseless Claim of Dethronement Plot
Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, have dismissed as unfounded and baseless, allegations by former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, that the state government is plotting to remove the monarch as the 44th Olubadan.
NaijaChoice News reports that Fayose had, on Sunday, taken to his verified X handle to level the accusation, claiming that Governor Makinde was planning to dethrone Oba Ladoja. According to the former Ekiti governor, the alleged plot would begin this week with the issuance of a government query to the Olubadan over his absence at the recent elevation ceremony of some high chiefs to the status of Obas in Ibadanland two weeks ago, among other issues.
Fayose wrote: “I heard reliably that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State is plotting the removal of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja. The plot is to commence this week, with a government query to be issued against the Olubadan, citing his absence at the failed coronation of High Chiefs in Ibadanland two weeks ago, and other allegations.”
