Good morning Nigeria. Welcome to the NaijaChoice News roundup of top newspaper headlines in Nigeria for today, Sunday 5th April, 2026.

1. You Better Refund my Money – King Mitchy, Calls Out Blessing CEO Over Disputed Cancer Claims

Social media is on fire after content creator King Mitchy publicly dragged relationship influencer Blessing CEO, demanding the immediate return of money she donated towards the self-proclaimed relationship expert’s cancer treatment.

In a no-holds-barred video now making rounds, King Mitchy accused Blessing of using someone else’s medical records and faking a stage 4 breast cancer diagnosis to solicit funds from Nigerians. “You better refund my money to my account,” she declared, adding that Blessing was “making a mockery of real people with cancer.” The clip has racked up thousands of views within hours, with many netizens echoing the call for refunds.

2. Wike’s Threat To Shoot Seun Okinbaloye On Live TV Sparks Outrage

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is facing a wave of criticism following a controversial comment in which he suggested he would have “shot” a television presenter over remarks made during a live broadcast.

The comment, directed at Seun Okinbaloye of Channels Television, has ignited widespread backlash from media groups, civil society organisations, and members of the public.

The controversy stems from Wednesday’s edition of Politics Today, where Okinbaloye expressed concern about Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.

3. Mr Macaroni Blasts FCT Minister Wike Over Threat to Shoot Journalist Seun Okinbaloye

Popular Nigerian comedian and social commentator Mr Macaroni has slammed Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike for his outburst against Channels Television anchor Seun Okinbaloye.

Wike, during a media chat in Abuja on Friday, said he wished he could “break the screen” and shoot Okinbaloye for comments made on Politics Today the previous day. The journalist had questioned the drift towards a one-party state in Nigeria amid ongoing political realignments.

4. ‘Don’t Vote For Me’: Obi Uses Tinubu’s Words Against Him As Power Crisis Worsens

Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has taken President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to task over the country’s worsening electricity crisis, quoting the president’s own campaign promise back at him.

During the 2023 electioneering, Tinubu told Nigerians: “If I don’t give you constant electricity in four years, don’t vote for me for a second term.”

Obi says that promise has not been kept. He pointed out that when Tinubu assumed office in 2023, the national grid supplied over 4,000 megawatts with lower tariffs. Today, average generation has slipped below that level while consumers pay more.

5 .“How Opposition Tinubu Would Treat President Tinubu” by Farooq A. Kperogi

In today’s Saturday Tribune column, I set Tinubu’s actions as president against the blistering response he himself would have mounted if he were in opposition, drawing on his own record to show how sharply the two diverge.

You may resent Bola Ahmed Tinubu, but you can’t deny that he has earned his place in Nigerian political history as one of the, if not the, most consequential opposition figures in Nigeria’s Fourth Republic. He constructed a carefully planned political and rhetorical template to oppose central governments effectively and then converted the symbolic capital he gained into a path to the presidency.
