Nollywood actor and politician Yul Edochie has taken a direct swipe at Peter Obi, insisting the former Anambra State governor cannot become President of Nigeria at this time.
Edochie, a known supporter of President Bola Tinubu, described Obi’s ongoing coalition talks with the African Democratic Congress as “dead on arrival” and a complete waste of time.

“Any political party Peter Obi joins will scatter,” he declared in a statement that has since gone viral on social media.
He added that the problem is deeper than meets the eye. “It’s not a physical problem. I’m surprised he doesn’t know this already. Or maybe he knows but chooses to ignore it. But the truth remains the truth.”
Edochie concluded: “Peter Obi cannot be President of Nigeria now.”
NaijaChoice News reports that the remarks come as opposition figures intensify moves to adopt the ADC as their platform for the 2027 general elections. Peter Obi, who flew the Labour Party flag in 2023, has been linked to the coalition alongside other leaders eyeing a united challenge to the ruling APC.
The ADC, once a fringe party, has gained traction in recent months with high-profile alignments aimed at building a stronger opposition bloc. Political watchers say the coalition’s success or failure could shape the direction of next year’s polls.
Edochie’s blunt assessment has triggered heated debates online, with supporters of the actor praising his candour while Obi’s loyalists dismissed it as mere propaganda.
The development underscores the sharp divisions already emerging in Nigeria’s political landscape barely a year to the next general elections.
