Tragic Triple Killing in Ughelli: Woman Arrested for Allegedly Murdering Husband, Alleged Lover, and Injuring Neighbour Over Infidelity

A yet-to-be-identified housewife from the Isoko ethnic group has been arrested by the Delta State Police Command following a shocking incident in the Ighwre-Ovie area of Ughelli North Local Government Area, where she allegedly killed her husband and his suspected lover, while seriously injuring a neighbour who tried to intervene.

The violent episode, reportedly triggered by long-standing accusations of infidelity, unfolded when the woman confronted her husband over his alleged extramarital affair. According to community sources and circulating reports, including a viral video showing police interactions, the suspect attacked her husband with a machete, striking him multiple times on the head and killing him instantly.

The rage reportedly did not end there. The woman then proceeded to attack another woman believed to be her husband’s “side chick,” resulting in her death as well. In the chaos, a female neighbour who rushed in to separate the parties and restore calm was also assaulted—allegedly with a hammer or similar weapon—and sustained severe injuries. She is currently receiving treatment in a hospital, with her condition described as critical in some accounts. While initial police statements in the video suggested the intervening neighbour had been killed, conflicting reports indicate she remains alive but battling for her life.

The suspect, described as a mother of two (or three in some circulating claims), was taken into custody at the Ughelli Area Command. During interrogation, she reportedly confessed to the acts, attributing her actions to uncontrollable anger. In one segment from the viral video, she is heard telling a female officer, “I didn’t know what came over me that day,” while confirming her family status.
