President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commissioned three landmark projects in Lagos State, reinforcing his administration’s drive to ease traffic, digitise governance and boost economic activity in Nigeria’s commercial nerve centre. Senate President Godswill Akpabio represented the President at the ceremony held on Wednesday at the newly named Bola Ahmed Tinubu Administrative Complex in Alausa.

NaijaChoice News reports that the projects include the 5.04-kilometre Ojota-Opebi Link Bridge, the five-storey Lagos State Geographical Information System (LAGIS) Building and the Multi-Agency Administrative Complex. The developments form part of ongoing efforts to tackle long-standing challenges facing millions of Lagos residents.

Akpabio described the Ojota-Opebi Link Bridge as a game-changer for the Ikeja-Maryland-Ojota corridor, a route notorious for gridlock that frustrates commuters daily. He said the new link will cut travel time, spur business opportunities and raise living standards across the area. “Better roads mean better lives,” the Senate President noted on behalf of Tinubu.

The LAGIS Building signals a bold shift toward transparent, digital land administration in Lagos. Officials say it will eliminate paperwork bottlenecks, secure property rights and make the state more attractive to local and foreign investors. Akpabio stressed that data-driven governance is no longer optional but essential for modern development.

The Multi-Agency Administrative Complex, now bearing President Tinubu’s name, is expected to bring government departments under one roof for faster service delivery and smoother inter-agency collaboration. Akpabio told the gathering that efficient institutions remain the bedrock of national progress.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu hailed the projects as practical answers to residents’ daily struggles. He explained that the Ojota-Opebi corridor will serve as a vital alternative route, reducing pressure on the busy Ikeja-Maryland axis and improving access to Ikorodu Road. The bridge comes with pedestrian walkways, bicycle lanes, solar-powered lights and improved drainage to fight flooding.

Sanwo-Olu credited Tinubu’s earlier tenure as Lagos governor for laying the foundation for many current projects. He said the latest commissions show clear continuity in vision and leadership. With just over a year left in his own term, the governor pledged to keep closing infrastructure gaps.

The ceremony also kicked off a series of project unveilings under the state’s THEMES+ agenda. Tinubu’s two-day working visit to Lagos includes more commissions today, further highlighting the state’s push to become a smarter, more efficient megacity.

Lagosians have welcomed the developments, seeing them as direct relief in a city where traffic, land disputes and bureaucratic delays have long slowed progress. The projects are expected to enhance mobility, governance and economic output in Nigeria’s commercial capital.
