Arsenal strengthened their grip on the Premier League title race on Wednesday night after edging Brighton & Hove Albion 1–0 at the Amex Stadium, extending their advantage at the summit.

A first-half strike from Bukayo Saka proved decisive as Mikel Arteta’s side battled through a tense encounter to claim all three points and maintain momentum in the closing stretch of the season.

Saka delivered the breakthrough in the ninth minute, cutting in from the right flank and unleashing a shot that deflected through a crowded penalty area and past Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen.

The goal also marked a milestone moment for the England international, coming on his 300th appearance for the club.

Brighton responded by controlling large spells of possession and pressing for an equaliser, but Arsenal’s disciplined defensive line held firm. Gabriel produced a crucial early intervention to prevent Carlos Baleba from capitalising on a rare error by goalkeeper David Raya, while Raya later made a series of important saves to preserve the narrow lead.

The hosts pushed forward after the interval, creating several chances through Georginio Rutter and Jack Hinshelwood, but they struggled to break down Arsenal’s organised defence.

Arteta reshuffled his side midway through the second half, introducing Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard to freshen the attack as the visitors sought to relieve mounting pressure.

Despite Brighton’s territorial dominance and late attempts to find a breakthrough, Arsenal remained composed in the closing stages, successfully seeing out the match to secure a valuable victory.

The win pushes Arsenal seven points clear at the top of the Premier League table after 30 matches, capitalising on Manchester City dropping points in a 2–2 draw against Nottingham Forest earlier in the evening.
