Popular Nollywood actress and filmmaker Nkechi Blessing Sunday has cried out in frustration over the overwhelming number of marriage proposals she is receiving from men on social media.
In a now-viral video shared from her car, the actress expressed her exasperation, revealing that over 5,000 men have slid into her WhatsApp and Facebook direct messages (DMs) with serious intentions of marriage. The surge reportedly followed the resurfacing and viral spread of an old video of hers online.
“I have over 5,000 men in my DM saying they want to marry me. I don’t know which video trended online. Please, I am single but I am not searching. Stop texting my number,” Nkechi Blessing stated emphatically in the clip.

She further explained her predicament: “I’m truly single, but I’m not looking for any man right now. I don’t know why some men keep disturbing me with too many messages.” The actress lamented the difficulty in managing the influx, noting that she has been blocking and archiving messages endlessly. She added that changing her phone number isn’t an option because it is linked to her Facebook account.
Nkechi Blessing Sunday, born February 14, 1989, in Surulere, Lagos, remains one of Nollywood’s most outspoken and versatile talents. She rose to prominence with roles in movies such as The Ghost and the Tout and Fate of Alakada, and has since produced her own projects, including Omoge Lekki. Now based in the United States, she runs her production company and foundation while continuing to act, direct, and write.
Her personal life has often made headlines, including her brief marriage to politician Opeyemi Falegan (which ended in 2022) and more recent relationships that did not last. The actress has consistently maintained that she is currently single and focused on herself, with no active search for a partner.
Reactions from netizens have been mixed. Some sympathized with her plight, acknowledging how overwhelming constant unwanted messages can be for public figures. Others joked about the situation, with comments ranging from playful skepticism about the exact figure to light-hearted jabs. A few questioned whether the rant was genuine or a bid for attention, but the viral nature of the video has kept the conversation alive across Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and other platforms.
As the clip continues to circulate widely, fans and followers are urging respectful boundaries and asking admirers to give the actress some space. Nkechi Blessing appears determined to enjoy her single status without the added pressure of endless proposals.
