LAGOS, NIGERIA — Lagos entrepreneur Uyi Ogbebor, popularly called Sir Uyi, has told critics of his nightclub Vaniti Lagos to leave him alone or prepare for consequences.
The Chief Executive Officer of HWP Group issued the warning on his Instagram handle @sir_uyi after fresh allegations that the Victoria Island venue sells fake drinks. He dismissed the claims as completely unfounded.
Sir Uyi, who built his name in Abuja’s nightlife before expanding to Lagos, reminded followers that he knows his roots and his destination. “I don’t score cheap gains for peanuts. I grind every day and night for a good life,” he wrote.
The Benin City-born businessman also highlighted the bigger picture of his operations. His companies currently employ more than 1,300 Nigerians, supporting that many families with steady income and stability.
He played down the focus on Vaniti Lagos itself. “My nightclubs are the least of what I do. I no small, o. Na when you try me, you go know who I be,” Sir Uyi declared. “Leave me alone, let me face my business. I be Benin man wey sabi.”
NaijaChoice News gathered that Sir Uyi’s media team has linked the sudden attacks to politics. The entrepreneur has stayed strictly apolitical and refused to align with any political camp despite pressure.
The team warned those targeting Vaniti Lagos and his other ventures to tread carefully. They said they will not watch years of hard work go to waste because of his silence.
Sir Uyi’s portfolio under HWP Group includes Moscow Underground, Hustle & Bustle, Whiskey Mistress and Magic City. He also runs real estate projects such as Apex Garden Estate in Abuja.
Industry watchers note that Vaniti Lagos, which opened in 2023, has become one of the city’s go-to spots for premium nightlife. The club recently marked its second anniversary amid growing crowds.
Sir Uyi maintains that his direct partnerships with global beverage brands make fake drinks impossible at his venues. He says his record of job creation in the hospitality sector speaks louder than any rumour.
