Sweden, Turkiye, Czechia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, DR Congo and Iraq have booked the final six tickets to the 2026 FIFA World Cup after winning their play-off ties.

NaijaChoice News reports that these sides have now filled every slot in the expanded 48-team tournament, bringing the qualification phase to a close ahead of the summer showpiece in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Czechia will line up in Group A against Mexico, South Korea and South Africa.

Bosnia and Herzegovina join Group B with Canada, Qatar and Switzerland.

Turkiye have been handed Group D alongside hosts USA, Paraguay and Australia.

Sweden will battle it out in Group F with the Netherlands, Japan and Tunisia.

Iraq face a tough test in Group I against France, Senegal and Norway.

DR Congo complete Group K with Portugal, Uzbekistan and Colombia.

Nigerian fans have already begun analysing the new groups, with special interest in DR Congo as the lone African representative among the play-off winners. Many Super Eagles supporters see the Congolese as carrying the continent’s fresh hopes after a qualification campaign that tested every side to the limit.

Of the six, Sweden and Turkiye enter with the strongest pedigree and are tipped by most analysts to have the best shot at topping their groups or at least finishing in the top two. Czechia and Bosnia and Herzegovina face steeper climbs, while Iraq and DR Congo will need major upsets to escape the group stage.

The draw has thrown up several mouth-watering clashes, and the entire football world – including living rooms across Nigeria – is now counting down to what promises to be the most competitive World Cup in history.
