INEC Extends Voter Registration To 24th July, 2026

Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise by 2 weeks and also launched a new self-service online registration portal for first-time voters.

This was disclosed via a statement by INEC on Friday 03 July 2026.

The CVR which began 18 August2025 and was originally scheduled to end on Friday 10 July2026 will now continue till Friday 24 July2026.

According to the statement, the exercise was extended after a review of the CVR and feedback from INEC state offices, political parties, civil society organisations, and other stakeholders.

Also, as from Wednesday 8 July 2026 a fully online self-service option will be available for first-time registrants.

The service will be accessible via the Commission’s dedicated portal at:

https://cvr.inecnigeria.org/

INEC added that the new portal will enable eligible citizens to complete their voter registration plus biometric capture via their personal devices from anywhere in the world, without having to physically go to an INEC office.
