Buba Galadima, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has declared that President Bola Tinubu will lose the 2027 presidential election even if pitted against a corpse.
Galadima made the strong remark on Tuesday during the ADC national convention held at the Rainbow Event Centre in Garki, Abuja. He was addressing party faithful amid growing calls for a united opposition front against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“I want to remind them that even if there is no living human being in Nigeria, and we bring a corpse in a coffin and put him against President Tinubu, I assure you the corpse will win the election in 2027,” Galadima said.
He accused the APC-led government of trying to weaken major opposition parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Labour Party, and the ADC itself.
Galadima, who has previously served in the APC and NNPP before joining the ADC, urged party members to resist any form of intimidation or frustration from the government. “So any attempt to intimidate or frustrate us, we must withstand and say no. It’s only our ‘no’, resilience, and courage that will deliver us from the mafioso in government,” he added.
The ADC chieftain also praised the party’s decision to proceed with the convention despite alleged interference. He said the gathering proved that no one in the country could dictate how opposition parties should operate or behave.
Political observers say Galadima’s comments reflect deep frustration within opposition ranks over the APC’s dominance since 2015. Many Nigerians continue to grapple with economic hardships, including high inflation, fuel price hikes, and naira volatility under the current administration.
NaijaChoice News monitored the convention proceedings and noted that the event drew delegates from across the country. Party leaders used the platform to reiterate calls for a stronger coalition ahead of the 2027 polls.
Galadima’s statement has already sparked reactions on social media and among political analysts. While some dismissed it as typical pre-election rhetoric, others see it as a sign of rising confidence among opposition figures determined to challenge the status quo.
The ADC is positioning itself as a viable alternative, especially as talks of opposition mergers gain traction in the build-up to the next general elections. Whether these bold words translate into real political momentum remains to be seen.
