The Prelate of the Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence Dr Oliver Ali Aba, has urged other state governors to study and replicate Enugu Governor Peter Mbah’s technology-driven security model.
NaijaChoice News reports that Aba made the call on Easter Monday at Wesley Cathedral, Enugu, during the Eucharistic service marking the 60th birthday of the Archbishop of the Methodist Archdiocese of Enugu, Most Rev. Christopher Nweke Ede, and his twin brother, Hon. Peter Edeh.
The prelate, who recently toured the Enugu State Command and Control Centre, described the facility as a game-changer. He said the real-time monitoring system allows swift response to threats, giving residents confidence that their lives and property are protected.
“You’re a man of the people, and when it comes to security you don’t joke with it,” Aba told Mbah. “Whoever cares for others, I will like to queue with the person.”
The birthday celebration spanned three days from April 4 to 6, featuring medical outreach programmes alongside the church service. It also included the formal launch of Archbishop Ede’s latest book, Start Well, Finish Strong: Leadership Principles for Ministers and Organisational Decision-Makers.
Archbishop Ede thanked Governor Mbah for gracing the occasion, describing the visit as a sign of genuine partnership. “This church loves you. We stood with you and we’re standing with you,” he said. “Thank you so much for coming, and we will continue to pray for you.”
Governor Mbah, who personally launched the book, praised the Archbishop as a shining example of humility and service. He noted that the cleric rose from humble beginnings to inspire many through community development, education and poverty alleviation efforts.
“We are here for three reasons: to celebrate the birthday, to celebrate the Archbishop and his twin, and to celebrate what the Archbishop has done,” Mbah stated. “Your life is an epitome of the raw materials of greatness—humility and service.”
The governor recalled his campaign interactions with the Archbishop, where they discussed social services, healthcare and education. He described Ede as a worthy son of Enugu whose influence now extends beyond the state.
In a country still battling widespread insecurity, Mbah’s investment in advanced surveillance and rapid-response infrastructure has positioned Enugu as a reference point. Church leaders believe the model deserves national attention.
The service ended with prayers for the governor’s administration and renewed commitment by the Methodist faithful to support good governance in Enugu State.
