1. Duration of Programme

• University

The duration depends on the course. It can be 3, 4, 5, 6 or even 7 years (e.g., Medicine & Surgery takes 6–7 years, Engineering 5 years, most others 4 years).

• Polytechnic

Full programme takes 5 years:

• 2 years National Diploma (ND)
• 1 year Industrial Training (IT)
• 2 years Higher National Diploma (HND)

2. Available Courses

• University

You can study virtually any course: Medicine, Law, Engineering, Arts, Social Sciences, Sciences, etc.

• Polytechnic

Limited to technical and vocational courses. You cannot study Medicine, Law, and most pure medical or certain social science courses.

3. Postgraduate Opportunities

• University

With at least Second Class Lower, you can proceed directly to a Master’s degree.

• Polytechnic

You cannot apply for Master’s with only HND. You must first complete a 1-year Postgraduate Diploma (PGD).

4. Admission Process

One-time admission. Once admitted, you only write semester exams until graduation. No further entrance exam needed.
