A desperate Nigerian lady, Ijeoma Patricia Ogoh, has taken social media by storm with a heartbreaking plea for help after accusing her boyfriend of secretly recording their intimate moments and using the clips to extort her.
According to the Facebook post that has gone viral, Ijeoma had been dating the man for several months. She visited him as usual, enjoyed what she described as a “good genital meet and greet,” and headed home none the wiser. But while on her way, he sent a WhatsApp video. She waited till she got home before opening it – only to discover it was a recording of their private encounter.
What followed was even more shocking. A voice note allegedly came in with a chilling threat: pay N2 million or the video goes to every member of her family. NaijaChoice News gathered that the suspect didn’t stop there. He went through her Facebook profile, noted the names of her siblings, uncles and aunties, and warned he would forward the clip to all of them.

In her emotional post, Ijeoma revealed the nightmare had already begun. “He has already sent the clip to my sister and she has involved some Area boys for us to storm the place, but the problem is that he always takes me to an Apartment. I don’t even know where he actually lives.”
She tried negotiating, offering N200,000 instead, but the response was another even more embarrassing video. “This time showing me doing something dirty,” she wrote in tears.
Her full cry for help read: “I went to see my boyfriend i have been dating for some months now. After a good jenital meet and greet, i was on my way back home when i noticed a video he sent to me on WhatsApp… The person I called my boyfriend was threatening to share the clip with every member of my family if I didn’t pay him the sum of two million… I don’t even know how to get out of this Mess. Help me. Mehhnnn this is serious ooo…”
This case is the latest in a disturbing trend of intimate partner sextortion sweeping across Nigeria. While many sextortion scams are linked to “Yahoo Boys” targeting foreigners, cases like Ijeoma’s – where a trusted partner turns predator – are becoming alarmingly common.
Legal experts have reminded the public that such acts are serious crimes under Nigerian law. Section 24 of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act 2015 clearly states that anyone who threatens to publish or actually publishes intimate images or videos to harass, blackmail or shame another person faces up to 10 years in prison. Traditional blackmail under the Criminal Code also carries stiff penalties of up to 14 years.
NaijaChoice News strongly advises anyone facing similar threats: Do NOT pay the blackmailer. Paying only leads to more demands and never guarantees the videos will be deleted. Instead, immediately report to the nearest Police station, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) or the Department of State Services (DSS). Provide screenshots of chats, voice notes, phone numbers and any other evidence. The number used on WhatsApp can easily be tracked for arrest.
Many Nigerians who saw the post have urged Ijeoma to involve security agencies right away, with some suggesting phone tracking or even involving “area boys” only as a last resort while police handle the formal investigation.
As the story continues to trend, NaijaChoice News will keep monitoring developments and bring updates on whether the suspect has been apprehended. If you or anyone you know is going through this kind of ordeal, speak out and seek help immediately – you are not alone, and the law is on your side.
