Abia Patriotic Front has unleashed a fierce attack on David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex, branding the 73-year-old businessman and APC senatorial aspirant a desperate political chameleon with a trail of serious allegations.
In a detailed press statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Dr Uche Ndukwe, the group reacted sharply to Bourdex’s recent outburst at an All Progressives Congress meeting in Abia State. He had described respected party elders as “mad people spewing incoherent nonsense.”
NaijaChoice News obtained the statement, which described Bourdex as a man whose character is clouded by unanswered fraud claims stretching back decades.
The Front focused first on his brief stint as caretaker chairman of Ohafia Local Government Area. It noted that Bourdex lobbied intensely for the appointed position rather than winning any election, unlike younger politicians in their 20s and 30s who now secure mandates across Abia.
Even that caretaker role, the group alleged, was marked by division, harassment and questionable contract awards. It quoted political analyst Hon Ikechi Anya, who likened Bourdex’s late entry into active politics to “an adult insisting on being fed with a bottle.”
The statement also raised fresh questions about Bourdex Telecom, the company he founded during the chaotic privatisation of NITEL in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Industry whispers, it claimed, have long surrounded how he acquired valuable telecom assets and the source of his start-up capital.
Banking records from that period reportedly showed massive unexplained inflows unrelated to declared business activities, the group added. It described the pattern as one that “reasonable people” would view with suspicion.
During his Ohafia tenure, contracts allegedly flowed to companies linked to Bourdex while community projects suffered, the statement continued. One civil servant who queried the deals was said to have faced physical assault and threats.
The group further exposed what it called Bourdex’s history of shifting loyalties. It recalled his past praise for Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, former governors T.A. Orji and Okezie Ikpeazu, before turning against them. Today, it claimed, he courts Governor Alex Otti with unusual enthusiasm.
“This is not leadership. This is political prostitution of the highest order,” the statement declared. At 73, it advised, Bourdex should focus on building a legacy rather than chasing Senate seats in Abia North.
NaijaChoice News made several attempts to reach Chief Dr David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex, the Ugoena of Abiriba and recipient of national honours MFR and OON, for his side of the story. All calls to known telephone lines rang unanswered and a text message sent to his number has received no reply as of press time.
Political analysts who spoke to NaijaChoice News described the development as a serious setback for Bourdex’s 2027 senatorial ambition. They pointed to his zero electoral victories and the timing of fresh attacks on the very leaders whose support he may need in Abia’s complex political terrain.
The Abia Patriotic Front insists it remains committed to promoting truth and accountability in state politics.
