ABEOKUTA – Rt. Hon. Olusegun Bolanle Gbeleyi (OBG), the incoming Senator for Ogun West Senatorial District and former Deputy Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, has commended the Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the successful adoption and installation of Distinguished Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) as the party’s consensus governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
NaijaChoice News reports that OBG warmly congratulated Yayi, describing his emergence as a well-deserved recognition of his dedication, proven leadership, and unwavering commitment to the progress and development of Ogun State. The consensus decision, announced by Governor Dapo Abiodun at the APC strategic caucus meeting in Abeokuta, reflects the unity, maturity, and collective resolve of the party to move forward with a shared vision and common purpose.
In a statement made available to NaijaChoice News, the former Ogun State Deputy Speaker, who recently declared his senatorial ambition for the Ogun West seat that Yayi will vacate upon assuming the governorship, expressed his unwavering readiness to work hand-in-hand with the flag bearer, party leaders, and all stakeholders.
He said the collaboration and shared vision remain critical to achieving meaningful and lasting progress for the people of Ogun State.
“Rt. Hon. Gbeleyi further expressed his unwavering readiness to work hand-in-hand with the flag bearer, party leaders, and all stakeholders to ensure sustained growth, unity, and inclusive development across Ogun State,” the statement read.
Reaffirming his commitment to effective and people-oriented representation, Gbeleyi assured constituents of his dedication to promoting policies and initiatives that will uplift the standard of living, particularly in Ogun West Senatorial District.
He stressed the importance of inclusiveness, grassroots engagement, and collective responsibility in building a more prosperous and progressive Ogun State for all.
The development comes as Yayi, who has been representing Ogun West in the Senate since 2023 after two terms as Senator for Lagos West, receives widespread endorsements from major APC stakeholders including former Governors Ibikunle Amosun and Otunba Gbenga Daniel, as well as Chief Olusegun Osoba.
Political observers note that OBG’s prompt congratulations signals strong internal cohesion within the APC Ogun West bloc as the party gears up for a smooth transition in 2027, with Gbeleyi positioning himself as a strong contender to fill the senatorial vacuum.
OBG, a seasoned politician with decades of legislative and administrative experience, including his role as Consultant on Power to the Ogun State Government and Chairman of the Digital Bridge Institute, has consistently advocated for sustainable development and effective representation in Ogun West.
