On the 5th day of April 2026  — Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is facing a wave of criticism following a controversial comment in which he suggested he would have “shot” a television presenter over remarks made during a live broadcast.

The Channels Television anchor Seun Okinbaloye has declared he will not be intimidated by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike over a heated exchange that has dominated national discourse.

7th April 2026 —  Popular Nigerian Prophetess Esther Abimbola Ajayi, was seen distributing Tinubu-Branded Easter Packages to her Church Members.

The members of Love of Christ Generation Church receives Easter packages branded with the President’s image and name. This gesture has garnered mixed reactions as critics think it’s a way of bringing politics to the church while others call it relief admits economical hardship.

7th April 2026 — The Nigeria’s government has resolved to bolster cybersecurity and data protection against threats. Mr. Bosun Tijani , Minister for Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy proposed a National Cybersecurity Coordination Council uniting NITDA, NCC, NDPC, private CISOs, law enforcement, and tech providers. This decision happened in sync with NDPC’s probe into Remita payment services limited, Sterling Bank, and others over claims of a 3TB data breach exposing BVNs, NINs, KYC, transactions via cloud misconfiguration.

8th April 2026 — 2 Weeks ago (March 25) Blessing Okoro (Blessing CEO) posted a fake stage 4 breast
cancer report online with which she solicited funds from people for treatment of this dreadful disease. Earlier this month, the result was exposed as stolen and edited from makeup artist Deborah Mbara.

Nigerians, enraged by this scam called on EFCC to step into this issue and arrest her, but the agency stated that despite the clamor and outrage, nobody has stepped forward to file a formal petition which is the only thing that can spur them into action.

8th April 2026 —  The Joint Admissions and Matriculation (JAMB) board has issued a warning to all 989 accredited centres across the country to ensure full visibility on the central monitoring system as any centre in violation of this rule risks sanctions like non payment of service fees and invalidation of registration and examination activities.

JAMB necessitated this rule as over 150 centres were not visible during the recent registration activities. Reforms like computer based testing and centralized oversight systems were put in place to curb examination malpractices and improve efficiency.

8th April 2026 —  One Oluwadamilare Ewedemi has been arrested by the police for the alleged repeated sexual abuse and impregnation of his daughter. The girl, whose name was withheld, reportedly lost her mother as an infant and was placed in a motherless babies’ home. In 2019, under the guise of providing guardianship, her father removed her from the home and subjected her to a vicious cycle of repeated sexual assaults for seven years. The victim, now 21 years old, claimed to have been impregnated and subjected to illegal abortions five different times.

Luckily for her, she managed to escape her father’s residence on the 1st of February 2026 and
sought refuge at a church, from where she was able to report this heinous act.

9th April 2026  — Panic has gripped Kebbi and Niger states after gunmen raided communities, killing at least 20
people in Niger State, many more in Kebbi, and destroying homes and properties. In Niger, the gunmen entered the town by motorcycle that fateful evening. They overpowered local guards and shattered the peace with gunshots and explosives, forcing many residents to flee to nearby towns.

In Kebbi State, suspected bandits launched a nighttime raid on villages. They set houses ablaze, killed residents, and wreaked havoc for several hours. Kebbi State police spokesperson Bashir Usman detailed the attack’s timing and said police responded swiftly, neutralizing two attackers. They also recovered a Niger Republic Army uniform and an immigration services uniform, suggesting possible cross-border links.

9th April 2026 —  The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has approved a bill replacing the outdated Lunacy Law of 1916. It establishes a Mental Health Services Department to regulate and enhance mental healthcare throughout the state. House Committee Chairman on Health, Hon. Moses Essien, described the law as a framework that protects the rights of people with cognitive disabilities.

This legislation replaces the archaic Lunacy Law with community based treatment, rehabilitation
access, and guidelines to safeguard those with psychosocial disabilities. Akwa Ibom State has resolved to join other states modernizing mental health governance, offering hope to residents who have suffered in silence for decades.

10th April 2026 — Burna Boy recently addressed allegations in a viral video, admitting he slapped DJ Tunez twice
but denying involvement from others, countering Tunez’s claims. He also mocked Wizkid for talking tough online but staying silent offline, after Wizkid shaded him for jumping a DJ with 10  men.

he video spread rapidly, dividing Afrobeat fans, Some praised Burna Boy’s directness while others criticized dragging Wizkid into it, especially since Wizkid clapped back by mocking Burna Boy’s explanation.

The Nigerian DJ Association imposed a temporary ban on Burna Boy’s songs across DJ playlists in the country and abroad, pending investigation into the clash calling it an act of hostility. While everyone is eagerly waiting for what would happen , no resolution or further clashes has been reported yet.

10th April 2026 — At the 52nd birthday celebration of veteran actor Fatai Odua, popularly known as Lalude,
renowned Fuji icon King Saheed Osupa made a statement that has sparked heated debates across social media. He advised his struggling backup singers to seek spiritual assistance to  improve their memory and stage delivery.

Osupa candidly revealed his long-standing belief in traditional practices, emphasizing he is unashamed of it since it harms no one and serves only his personal success. He talked about other public figures who are secretly engaging in similar practices despite their pretense otherwise, urging his team to follow suit in order to escape poverty.

His openness has fueled conversations where some praised his honesty and embrace of his
Yoruba heritage, while others argue that spiritual and religious matters are too sensitive to
discuss casually.

11th April 2026 — President Bola Tinubu‘s convoy reportedly hit 3 residents in obogoro community in Bayelsa
state on Friday after governor Douye Diri’s inauguration. Videos of eye witnesses show showing
gathered residents who criticized escort vehicles for reckless driving and damaged vehicles.
Despite social media death claims, reports confirm that were only injuries and no death.
As of the time of this press release there has been no response from the President, Bayelsa
State governor or the police to confirm fatalities.
