Why Governor Otti Has Refused To Join Peter Obi In ADC – Cubana Chief Priest

Nigerian socialite and nightlife entrepreneur Cubana Chiefpriest has revealed why Abia State Governor Alex Otti declined to follow former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi into the African Democratic Congress.

Chiefpriest, a vocal supporter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, made the claim in a widely circulated statement on social media. He insisted that federal support from the Tinubu administration has been key to Otti’s developmental strides in Abia State.

The socialite argued that Otti’s performance reflects the impact of resources provided by the presidency. According to him, such backing explains the governor’s choice to remain focused on governance rather than political realignment.

NaijaChoice News monitored Chiefpriest’s post, where he declared strong backing for Tinubu, popularly called Asiwaju. “All of us dey support Asiwaju. If na lie, make him follow Peter Obi go ADC,” he wrote.

He went further, crediting Tinubu directly for Abia’s progress. “All the things wey Alex Otti dey do for Abia na Asiwaju dey supply am with the funds. Such an amazing Governor, representing the presidency well through his actions,” Chiefpriest added.

The businessman urged Nigerians to give credit where due. He advised that those hailing Otti’s achievements should equally acknowledge Tinubu’s role in empowering performing governors across the country.

Chiefpriest, who hails from Imo State, pointed to his own state as another example. He noted that Tinubu releases allocations to all governors, including Imo’s, and praised the state’s leadership for delivering results.

He shifted focus to the real challenge facing the nation. According to Chiefpriest, President Tinubu is not the problem for Nigerians, but governors who receive federal allocations yet fail to utilise them effectively.

The socialite called on citizens to hold state leaders accountable. “Y’all should hold your governors accountable; maybe then the country will be better for all,” he stated.

This latest intervention comes weeks after Peter Obi formally joined the ADC in March, along with several other opposition figures. Otti, elected on the Labour Party platform in 2023, has continued to prioritise infrastructure and urban renewal projects in Abia without joining the new opposition bloc.

Chiefpriest’s comments have sparked fresh debate on federal-state relations and the 2027 political landscape. Many Nigerians continue to watch how governors navigate loyalty, performance, and opposition realignments amid ongoing economic pressures.
