The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed the death of an American service member, raising the toll of US troops killed during the ongoing joint US-Israel military campaign against Iran to seven.
In a post on X late Sunday, CENTCOM stated: “Last night, a U.S. service member passed away from injuries received during the Iranian regime’s initial attacks across the Middle East. The service member was seriously wounded at the scene of an attack on U.S. troops in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on March 1. This is the seventh service member killed in action during Operation Epic Fury. Major combat operations continue.”
The command added that the identity of the fallen soldier will be withheld for the next 24 hours pending notification of the family.

As previously reported by NaijaChoice News, President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance had only a day earlier presided over a dignified transfer ceremony in honour of the first six American troops killed in the initial wave of the conflict.
The latest casualty stems from Iran’s retaliatory strikes that followed the launch of Operation Epic Fury – the massive joint US-Israeli offensive that has seen American forces hit over 3,000 targets across Iran in the first week alone. The wounded soldier was among those hit when Iranian forces attacked US positions in Saudi Arabia on March 1.
With major combat operations still raging, CENTCOM has stressed that US forces remain fully engaged even as the death toll continues to rise. The development comes amid heightened regional tensions, with Iran also reporting fresh waves of missile strikes in retaliation.
