Dele Momodu Endorses Atiku-Obi 2027 ADC Ticket
Media mogul and African Democratic Congress chieftain Dele Momodu has thrown his weight behind a possible Atiku Abubakar-Peter Obi presidential ticket for the 2027 general elections.
Momodu made the strong endorsement on Tuesday during his appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today. He described the pairing as a formidable choice for the ADC, citing the duo’s joint run in the 2019 presidential election under the Peoples Democratic Party.
“Peter Obi came third in the last election, so you don’t have to work too hard to maintain and attract the same group of people who love him,” Momodu said. He added that the former Anambra governor and ex-Vice President Atiku already share a similar temperament from their past collaboration.
NaijaChoice News reports that Momodu also claimed the ruling All Progressives Congress is gripped by panic over the growing strength of opposition figures now aligning with the ADC.
“They cannot believe that we will have maybe four or five major opposition leaders in the country,” he stated. Momodu insisted the situation is real and not hidden, pointing to President Bola Tinubu’s recent efforts to rally governors, ministers and legislators.
Despite those mobilisations, Momodu said the APC is showing “obvious panic” as the opposition repositions for 2027.
The comments come amid heightened political realignments in Nigeria, with several prominent figures eyeing the ADC as a platform to challenge the ruling party. Analysts say such coalitions could reshape the electoral landscape, especially given the economic hardships and security concerns dominating public discourse ahead of the polls.
Momodu, a veteran political commentator and publisher of Ovation International, has consistently pushed for strategic opposition unity. His latest position underscores the fluid nature of alliances as parties prepare for what promises to be a fiercely contested election cycle.
