2. Tinubu Backs Obaigbena’s, Pledges Protection For Media Ecossystem
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has thrown his weight behind , a new digital media platform promoted by Nduka Obaigbena, Chairman/Editor in Chief of THISDAY/Arise Channel Media Group, describing the initiative as a home-grown innovation that deserves encouragement as Nigeria seeks to safeguard its media ecosystem.
The President made the pledge on Friday evening while hosting leaders of the Newspaper Proprietors’ Association of Nigeria (NPAN), Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) and the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON) to an interfaith breaking of fast at the State House in Abuja.
3. Abuja Pastor-Doctor Arraigned for Alleged N19m IVF Embryo Scam
Nigeria Police Force has dragged a prominent Abuja fertility specialist and pastor before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory over serious allegations bordering on fraud, criminal conspiracy, unlawful disclosure of confidential medical records, and the sale of a couple’s embryos.
Dr John Onuwabhagbe Abebe, 54, who doubles as a pastor at Living Faith Church Worldwide in Durumi, Abuja, was arraigned alongside his facility, Joje Abebe Fertility Centre Limited, on Wednesday before Justice A.A. Fashola at the Jabi High Court.
4. FG Approves ₦4 Billion Take-Off Grant For Tinubu Poly, Epe Varsity
The Federal Government has approved N2bn each as take-off grants for the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Federal Polytechnic in Abuja and the Federal University of Science and Technology, Epe in Epe, Lagos State, as part of efforts to support their early operations.
The Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, disclosed this on Thursday during the inauguration of key officials appointed to lead the two institutions, according to Arise News.
Among those inaugurated were Prof. Nosiru Onibon, who will serve as the pioneer Rector of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Federal Polytechnic, Abuja; Prof. Adeola Oshikoya, appointed Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Science and Technology, Epe; and Dr Angela Ajala, who assumed office as Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Colleges of Education.
