OgunLEARN: Ogun Govt Unveils ₦1bn AI-Powered Classroom at Remo Secondary School, Pledges More Investments for Tech-Driven Education
In a bold move to revolutionize education in Ogun State, Governor Dapo Abiodun has announced the construction of a state-of-the-art 900-seater AI-powered digital classroom complex at Remo Secondary School in Sagamu, valued at a whopping ₦1 billion. The initiative, revealed during the school’s 80th anniversary celebration, underscores the administration’s unwavering commitment to equipping Nigerian youths with cutting-edge skills for the digital age.
The ultra-modern facility, designed to foster interactive learning through artificial intelligence, will serve as a hub for smart education, building on existing innovations like the school’s resource centre and fully equipped robotics laboratory. Speaking at the event, Governor Abiodun reaffirmed his government’s dedication to technology-driven education, stating, “This ultra-modern facility is designed to equip our students with the skills required to thrive in the 21st-century knowledge economy.”
This announcement comes on the heels of Ogun State’s groundbreaking launch of OgunLEARN in January 2026 – Nigeria’s first AI-powered teaching and learning platform aimed at bridging educational resource gaps. Rolled out in select secondary schools including Remo Secondary, Abeokuta Grammar School, and Ijebu-Ode Grammar School, OgunLEARN provides virtual classrooms, interactive tools, and personalized learning resources, enabling teachers to deliver lessons more effectively and students to access global-standard content regardless of location.

Beyond the digital classroom, the Abiodun administration has pledged an additional ₦100 million to bolster Remo Secondary’s infrastructure, with ₦50 million to be disbursed immediately. The funds will support ongoing projects, ensuring at least one major initiative is completed before the end of the governor’s tenure. Recent upgrades include the remodelling of science laboratories to international standards and the comprehensive rehabilitation of both boys’ and girls’ hostels, enhancing safety, comfort, and overall student welfare.
Remo Secondary School, established in 1946 as one of Ogun State’s flagship institutions, holds a cherished place in the nation’s educational heritage. The 80th anniversary festivities highlighted the school’s enduring legacy of excellence, with Governor Abiodun commending the Old Students Association (REMOOSA) for their pivotal role in sustaining its standards. “We recognise Remo Secondary School as a heritage institution,” he noted, urging current students to “embrace learning with passion, uphold integrity, and continue the proud legacy handed down through generations.”
Education stakeholders have hailed the developments as a game-changer for public schooling in Nigeria. Mr. Adewale Adeyemi, President of the National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS), described the AI integration as “a visionary step that positions Ogun ahead of the curve in Africa’s tech revolution.” He praised the platform’s potential to democratize quality education, especially in underserved areas, and called on other states to emulate the model.
The project aligns with Ogun State’s broader ISO 9001:2015-certified education reforms, which have seen massive investments in infrastructure and teacher training since 2019. With over 1,000 schools revamped and digital tools deployed across the state, Abiodun’s administration aims to produce graduates ready for the Fourth Industrial Revolution – from AI coding to robotics and data analytics.
As Nigeria grapples with youth unemployment and the digital divide, initiatives like these at Remo Secondary offer a beacon of hope. For students in Sagamu and beyond, the promise of AI classrooms isn’t just about gadgets; it’s about unlocking opportunities in a knowledge economy where innovation is the ultimate currency.
