Blasts rocked central Israel on Monday, seriously injuring at least two people, emergency services said, shortly after the military reported it had detected new missiles launched from Iran.
Paramedics were “searching a number of scenes and treating two unconscious males in serious condition”, the Magen David Adom emergency service said in a statement. The military said there were reports of several impact sites from the missiles.
“Defensive systems are operating to intercept the threat,” the military had earlier said.

As previously reported by NaijaChoice News, the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict, now in its seventh day following heavy Israeli and US airstrikes on Iranian targets, has continued to escalate with fresh retaliatory actions. This latest barrage from Tehran marks the first wave of missiles fired under Iran’s newly appointed supreme leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei – the 56-year-old son of slain former leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iranian state broadcaster IRIB confirmed the development on its Telegram channel, describing it as “Iran fires first wave of missiles under Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei toward occupied territories.”
Updated reports from multiple sources indicate that the strikes, which included ballistic missiles and possible cluster munitions, have left at least one person dead in central Israel, in addition to the seriously wounded victims being treated by Magen David Adom teams. Shrapnel and fragments from the projectiles caused the injuries, with paramedics rushing several unconscious males to hospitals such as Sheba Medical Center.
The Israeli military has not yet released full details on the number of missiles intercepted or the exact locations of impacts in the central region, but sirens sounded across areas including Netanya as the threat unfolded. This development comes amid heightened regional tensions, with explosions also reported near US bases in Qatar and aerial threats detected in Kuwait.
