Enugu Air has officially commenced the migration of its reservation system to its proprietary digital platform, NaijaChoice News reports, signalling a decisive shift towards complete self-reliance following the award of its Air Operator Certificate by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.
Effective March 16, all bookings and reservations will be handled exclusively via the airline’s official website, enuguairlines.com. Travellers scheduled between March 13 and March 15 are urged to complete their transactions on the platform of its technical partner, XEJet Limited, to avoid any disruption.
The move comes barely days after Enugu Air received its AOC on March 10, 2026, clearing the state-owned carrier to operate scheduled flights under its own licence. The certification, achieved in a record five months and three weeks, stands in sharp contrast to the industry benchmark of 15 to 24 months and has been hailed as historic by aviation regulators.

NCAA Director General Capt. Chris Najomo described the feat as unprecedented, noting that Enugu Air distinguished itself by launching with a complete fleet of six Embraer aircraft — E170s, E190s and E195s — a rarity for any new entrant in Nigeria’s competitive aviation space.
NaijaChoice News gathered that the swift regulatory success underscores Governor Peter Mbah’s aggressive push to transform Enugu into a leading regional aviation, commerce and logistics hub for West and Central Africa. The airline, which began commercial operations in July 2025 under XEJet’s AOC before transitioning, forms the cornerstone of this broader economic blueprint aimed at boosting trade, tourism and investment inflows to the South-East.
Enugu Air CEO Tolu Ita credited the milestone to the visionary leadership of Governor Mbah and the professionalism of the NCAA. “We remain committed to maintaining the highest global safety standards and delivering competitive, customer-focused services as we enter this new phase of independence,” she said.
State Commissioner for Transportation Obi Ozor outlined ambitious expansion targets. He revealed plans to grow the fleet to 20 aircraft by the close of 2026, with regional flights to key domestic and international markets scheduled to commence before year-end.
Technical partner XEJet Limited played a pivotal role in the certification process. Its Group CEO Emmanuel Iza described the partnership as a model of collaboration. “This milestone demonstrates what can be achieved through strong partnerships between government and the commercial aviation sector in advancing air transport development,” Iza stated.
With the digital migration now underway and full independence secured, Enugu Air is positioned to reshape air travel connectivity from the South-East, delivering on Governor Mbah’s promise of purposeful governance and sustainable economic growth for the region.
