Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Saturday received a special Episcopal blessing from the Catholic Bishop of Maria Mater Ecclesia, Ahiara Diocese, Most Rev. Dr Simon Okezuo Iweobi, at the historic Maria Mater Ecclesia Cathedral in Mbaise, Imo State.
The blessing formed the highpoint of a colourful thanksgiving and reception ceremony organised to mark the successful completion of Ambassador Belusochukwu M. Enwere’s five-year tenure as National Chairman of the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) between 2021 and 2026.
Seyi Tinubu, who attended the event alongside his wife, Layal Tinubu, and the Minister of Youth Development, was the special guest of honour. Bishop Iweobi personally offered prayers and the Episcopal blessing, which, according to Catholic tradition, invokes divine guidance, protection and wisdom for leadership and selfless service to humanity.

The cathedral was packed with political heavyweights, senior clergy, youth leaders and community stakeholders who trooped out to honour Enwere’s stewardship of the Christian youth body. Hymns, scripture readings and heartfelt prayers dominated the service as speakers showered praises on the outgoing YOWICAN chairman for his remarkable achievements.
Enwere, in his address, poured out gratitude to God, religious leaders and all who stood by him. “Today, as I reflect on my five-year journey as National Chairman of YOWICAN from 2021 to 2026, my heart is filled with gratitude. This period has been one of growth and service, during which we worked to empower young Christian minds and strengthen unity among our members,” he declared.
He specially thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose administration created enabling environment for youth development; the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, a patroness of the organisation; Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma; Barrister Seyi Tinubu and the entire Tinubu family for their unwavering support. Enwere also presented Seyi Tinubu with a special award in recognition of his consistent contributions to youth empowerment, philanthropy and nation-building.
Clergy and speakers at the event lauded Enwere for strengthening Christian youth engagement, promoting interfaith harmony and amplifying the voice of young Nigerians in national discourse. They equally hailed Seyi Tinubu for his humility and dedication to youth development initiatives across the country, describing his presence as a powerful symbol of solidarity between political and religious youth leadership.
Participants told NaijaChoice News that the gathering underscored the pivotal role of faith-based organisations in moral upbringing, social responsibility and peaceful coexistence, especially in South-East Nigeria where churches remain key drivers of community mobilisation.
The ceremony ended with a grand reception where dignitaries, youth representatives and well-wishers raised prayers for sustained unity, peace and progress in Nigeria even as they celebrated Enwere’s impactful tenure.
The event has continued to generate positive reactions across political and religious circles, with many describing it as a testament to the growing synergy between faith institutions and national youth development efforts.
