In a shocking incident that has left family and friends in mourning, a 27-year-old woman identified as Esther Akwaji reportedly collapsed and died under mysterious circumstances at her boyfriend’s residence in Dei-Dei, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The boyfriend, whose identity remains unknown, allegedly fled the scene shortly after the tragedy, prompting a police manhunt.
According to reports, Esther, a resident of Nasarawa State, had travelled to Abuja to visit family members. On January 21, she left her relatives’ home, informing them she was heading to a bank in Dei-Dei. However, she never returned. Hours later, her family received a distressing call from a man claiming to be her boyfriend, using Esther’s mobile phone.
The caller explained that Esther had visited him, and he had bought food for them to share. Midway through the meal, she suddenly began vomiting and collapsed. He claimed to have rushed her to Kubwa General Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival. But in a twist that has raised suspicions, the man vanished from the hospital immediately after the pronouncement and has since become unreachable, with his phone switched off.
