A newborn baby boy has been rescued after he was discovered abandoned along a farm road in Omupo, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The infant, whose placenta was still attached at the time he was found, was reportedly spotted by a passerby. The discovery prompted the resident to alert others in the community before the baby was rushed to Omupo Cottage Hospital for urgent medical attention.

Confirming the incident on Monday, July 13, 2026, the Chief Medical Director of Omupo Cottage Hospital, Dr. Ismail Bakare, said the baby arrived at the health facility alive and is currently under close medical observation.

According to the medical director, the child is in stable condition and has been responding positively to treatment since he was admitted.

Dr. Bakare explained that despite surviving the difficult circumstances in which he was found, the newborn will require continuous medical care, adequate nutrition and proper support to aid his recovery and healthy development in the weeks ahead.
