Meanwhile, a former lawmaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Babatunde Festus Komolafe, has called on popular Nigerian Afrobeat star, David Adedeji Adeleke, to prevail on his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, to stop harbouring criminals in the Osun Government House to guarantee a violence-free 2026 gubernatorial election.
The Nation reports that the Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu, when he visited Adeleke on Friday, lamented that some wanted criminals in the state were hibernating in the government house.
Komolafe, who represented Atakumosa East and West state constituency, in a statement on Saturday, said: “If Davido want people to believe that he is truly committed to a free and fair election in Osun, he should be bold enough to tell his uncle to stop harbouring thugs and keeping suspected criminals in government to evade justice.
He said: “The current call on Adeleke to stop harbouring criminals by the Inspector General of Police is a vindication of what our party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, has been saying about the ruling party in the state.”
“We will also take the comment of your uncle to the IGP that if it is his son that is found wanting in any form, that he, Adeleke, will hand him over to the police as an insincere expression; if he is actually sincere, he should turn in the wanted Emir and others to the police.”
