AUCHI, EDO STATE, NIGERIA — Senior Pastor and General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International, AposPastor Suleman Questions Tinubu’s Re-Election Bidtle Johnson Suleman, has openly questioned President Bola Tinubu’s reported ambition for a second term in office, citing persistent economic hardship, insecurity, and poor performance.
The 55-year-old cleric made the remarks during a Sunday service in Auchi, Edo State, while delivering a sermon titled “Power to Get Wealth.” A video of the message went viral on Tuesday.
According to Suleman, the current state of the nation demands serious reflection before any consideration of re-electing the president. He argued that the first term of any administration is when citizens expect tangible results.
The televangelist, an alumnus of the University of Benin, did not mince words on the administration’s record. “If you fail like this in the first term, what are you going to come back to do again?” he asked.
Suleman pointed to the sharp rise in the exchange rate from around N460 to N1,500 to the dollar and the unbearable cost of fuel as clear indicators of deteriorating conditions. He insisted that performance remains the strongest campaign tool for any leader.
The cleric stressed that his criticism is not targeted at President Tinubu alone. He recalled speaking out against perceived failures during former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, noting that some officials at the time even applauded his comments when he addressed the Chibok girls’ abduction.
Suleman maintained that he belongs to no political party and speaks based on observed realities. He said he has commended the administration when it recorded any positive steps, including a temporary drop in the dollar rate and a one-time subsidy on transportation last December.
The Omega Fire Ministries leader noted that Nigerians are not demanding miracles. “Get one thing right,” he said. “If you can’t provide steady power, give us security. If you can’t give security, let us buy things cheaply. Just do one thing right.”
He lamented the collapse of basic infrastructure, describing electricity supply as “zero” in many places, even as solar power is available at the Presidential Villa. Suleman contrasted this with more reliable systems he encounters during his international travels.
The pastor also addressed the growing number of Nigerians in the diaspora. He explained that many leave not primarily for wealth but for safety and a better quality of life. “A medical doctor becomes a taxi driver abroad just to live without fear of kidnapping,” he said.
Suleman expressed confidence that God will eventually raise selfless leaders who will transform Nigeria’s fortunes. He prayed that citizens alive today will witness a safer country where people can travel freely even at 1am.
NaijaChoice News observed that the cleric’s comments come at a time when several APC governors and party leaders have already begun endorsing President Tinubu for re-election ahead of 2027.
His remarks reflect the deepening frustration among many Nigerians over the state of the economy and security, even as the administration continues to push its reform agenda.
