KANO, Nigeria — Senator Oluremi Tinubu on Thursday inaugurated the completed Lodge Road in the Government Reserved Area of Nasarawa Local Government and flagged off the construction of Sarkin Yaki Road in Sabon Gari, Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State.

The First Lady was in the ancient city to launch the Energise Commercialisation Now initiative. She was joined at the event by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, his wife, and several top government functionaries.

A statement issued on Friday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, said the two road projects form part of ongoing efforts to strengthen infrastructure and stimulate economic activities across Kano.

While inaugurating the Lodge Road, Mrs Tinubu stressed that quality roads are critical for the smooth movement of people and goods, better security access, and overall growth of both state and national economies.

She urged closer collaboration between federal, state, and local governments so that more communities can benefit from such developmental projects.

Governor Yusuf described the First Lady’s visit as a clear demonstration of the kind of partnership needed to fast-track development in Kano. He reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to back initiatives that drive growth and modernisation in the state.

The governor added that the new and upgraded roads would ease transportation challenges, open up fresh business opportunities, and support urban renewal efforts in the Kano metropolis.

The ceremony attracted senior government officials, traditional rulers, and key political figures. Among those present were Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, members of the National Assembly, and representatives of North-West governors.

NaijaChoice News reports that the projects reflect the growing synergy between the federal and Kano State governments in addressing infrastructure deficits in northern Nigeria.

The development comes as Kano continues to position itself as a major commercial hub in the region.

These road interventions are expected to bring immediate relief to residents and traders while laying the foundation for long-term economic progress.

The successful inauguration and flag-off underscore the shared commitment to delivering tangible benefits that improve daily life and strengthen the nation’s economic backbone.
