ABUJA, NIGERIA — FCT Minister and PDP National Leader Nyesom Wike has assured aggrieved party members they will not lose their entitlements if they return to the fold. NaijaChoice News reports that Wike made the pledge at the 108th National Executive Committee meeting held Monday at Wadata Plaza in Abuja.
He explained that many left only because of uncertainty and the search for political shelter elsewhere. Wike therefore urged the party leadership to set up a strong reconciliation committee without delay.
“There is room for them to come back, and whatever is due to them will still be given,” Wike said. He insisted the PDP must close ranks quickly, warning that lingering internal wrangling could weaken its chances in future elections.
The former Rivers State governor added that every organisation faces crisis but what matters is how it is resolved. “Now that we are together, we must not stop at reconciliation,” he stated.
Wike reaffirmed his loyalty to the PDP, declaring he has been a member since 1998 and has no intention of leaving. “Whatever happens, we will continue to live as members of the PDP,” he said.
He called for transparency and openness in party affairs to rebuild confidence and bring back those who had drifted away.
PDP National Chairman Abdulrahman Mohammed declared that the era of uncertainty is now behind the party. He promised strict adherence to the Electoral Act and INEC guidelines during congresses at all levels.
Board of Trustees Chairman Senator Mao Ohuabunwa stressed that unity must remain the party’s top priority. He urged members to bury their differences and maintain discipline while commending the e-registration initiative for repositioning the PDP.
