NEW DELHI, INDIA – Delhi Police have dismantled a drug trafficking syndicate operating in the city’s western districts, arresting four suspects including two Nigerian nationals and seizing MDMA worth nearly ₹1 crore.
The Anti-Narcotics Task Force of the Crime Branch carried out the operation following a tip-off on activities around Tilak Nagar. Officers say the ring sourced the synthetic drug from Nigerian suppliers and pushed it across Delhi-NCR.
Those held are Gurmeet Singh and Mukesh Kumar alias Vicky, both of Uttam Nagar, as well as Nigerians Mancabo David and Emeka Emmanuel alias Peter. Emmanuel is a known repeat offender who previously served a five-year jail term under the NDPS Act.
On April 6, a raid at a Ganesh Nagar premises led to the immediate arrest of Gurmeet and Mukesh. Police recovered about 73 grams of MDMA, 112 zip-lock pouches, weighing scales, packing materials and ₹37,500 in suspected crime proceeds.
Interrogation of the first two suspects paved the way for the arrest of Mancabo David on April 9 with over 10 grams of the drug. Emeka Emmanuel was picked up the same day and another seven grams seized from him.
Investigators identified Gurmeet as the kingpin who handled procurement and supply while Mukesh oversaw street-level distribution. The syndicate allegedly bought the MDMA at between ₹1,200 and ₹1,600 per gram and sold it locally for around ₹2,500.
NaijaChoice News learnt that the group used a rented apartment to run an escort service as cover for their drug operations. The same location served as their packaging and distribution hub.
To dodge detection, the suspects installed CCTV cameras and fitted password-controlled access doors. Police also recovered vehicles and mobile phones linked to the trafficking.
This latest bust highlights the continued presence of international networks in the capital’s drug trade, with authorities stressing that such syndicates remain under close watch. Further probes are ongoing.
