Senator Eshilokun Sanni Joins Lagos APC GAC

Senator Wasiu Eshilokun Sanni has been confirmed as a member of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council, the apex decision-making body of the All Progressives Congress in the state. The Lagos State Council of Elders announced the appointment, recognising his decades of service to Lagos politics.

The senator, who represents Lagos Central in the 10th National Assembly, made the disclosure on his verified X handle on Thursday. He listed his long political journey, from three terms in the Lagos State House of Assembly where he served as Deputy Speaker, to two terms as Executive Chairman of Lagos Island Local Government Area.

Born on March 24, 1961, Eshilokun Sanni is an agricultural economist with a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos. He currently chairs the Senate Committee on Marine Transport and has remained a key grassroots mobiliser in Lagos Island and its environs.

Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi, the revered chairman of the GAC and a prominent Lagos statesman, leads the council. The body, often described as the highest advisory organ within the APC in Lagos, plays a strategic role in party direction and state governance matters.

Eshilokun Sanni, a loyal APC chieftain who once served as the party’s Lagos State Secretary, expressed joy at the elevation. He ended his announcement with the Yoruba phrase “Moyo fun ra mi,” meaning congratulations to himself, as he reflected on his journey from local government to the Senate.

The development comes as the senator continues to push constituency projects in education, health, and infrastructure across Lagos Central. His induction into the GAC further cements his place among the state’s influential political elders.

Party stakeholders have described the move as a well-deserved recognition of loyalty, experience, and consistent service. Many see it as another step in strengthening the APC’s structure ahead of future political engagements in Lagos.
