Lagos State Government has deployed 1,710 functioning public toilets across the state as part of its drive to wipe out open defecation and improve sanitation for millions of residents and visitors.
The facilities are strategically located in busy areas to make clean toilets more accessible in a city where daily movement is heavy and public convenience often remains a challenge.

Wahab stressed that government cannot shoulder the burden alone. He appealed to businesses such as filling stations, banks, eateries and other public-facing outfits to open their restrooms to the public where possible.
This partnership, he explained, will greatly expand access and support the state’s ongoing sanitation drive.
Enforcement remains firm. Authorities continue to arrest and prosecute anyone caught defecating in the open under environmental laws.
The measures, according to the commissioner, are aimed at protecting public health, preserving dignity and keeping the environment clean for everyone.
Access to sanitation is everybody’s business, Wahab added. While the government expands infrastructure, residents and private operators must also play their part to ensure Lagos stays clean, safe and habitable.
