Mahendergarh police have busted a drug syndicate and arrested 11 accused, including a Nigerian national, in a 10-day anti-narcotics drive.
The operation led to the registration of four FIRs and seizure of 33 grams of heroin (‘chitta’), 63 grams of ganja, and 220 intoxicant capsules, along with cash suspected to be drug proceeds.
Police said the crackdown began on March 13 with the arrest of an alleged peddler, Dinesh from Takht Bawri, who was found in possession of 19 grams of smack and Rs 13,900. Further investigation helped trace the supply chain, leading to the arrest of intermediaries Himanshu, Vinod and Rinku.
The key breakthrough came on March 31 with the arrest of a Nigerian national, Ikechukwu. He is a resident of Anambra in south Nigeria.
Police seized Rs 18,500, a scooty and counterfeit “toy notes” worth Rs 32,300 from him. His visa credentials are being verified, and his links to a wider network in the NCR are under probe.
