The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has warned all accredited centres nationwide that any facility not visible on its central monitoring system risks sanctions, including non-payment for services and possible invalidation of registration or examination activities.

In a bulletin released on Monday, the board emphasised that all centres involved in registration and examination activities must ensure their surveillance cameras are fully accessible and viewable in real time from JAMB’s control room at its headquarters.

“Any of the 989 accredited centres where registration or examination activities cannot be monitored in real time may have such activities declared invalid,” the board stated. “Affected centres also risk not being paid for their services.”

The board also warned that during examinations, any centre that becomes unviewable from the monitoring desk would face immediate delisting.

The board said the warning was in line with the importance of real-time monitoring, which allows the board to detect irregularities during registration and examinations and take prompt corrective action.

JAMB said the move became imperative as during the recent registration exercise, over 150 centres were not visible from its control room.

The board said it initially considered cancelling all registrations from these centres but opted for additional scrutiny using enhanced remote monitoring tools. “Affected centres were subsequently called to a meeting and given an ultimatum to resolve their technical issues.

“Payment will only be made after compliance is confirmed,” JAMB stated.

The board noted that several centres have already been delisted based on observations from the central monitoring system.

In recent years, the board has introduced several reforms, including computer-based testing and centralised oversight systems, to curb malpractice and improve efficiency.
