Anambra State Government has introduced fifteen entrepreneurial subjects into junior secondary schools curriculum to boost the practical skills and entrepreneural mindsets of students
The subjects that were introduced are Solar installation, Garment making, GSM Repairs, Agriculture and Processing, Plumbing,Tiling, POP Installation, Event Management, Bakery, Hairstyling, Make-up, Interior Design, CCTV/Intercom Installation, Digital Literacy, IT and Robotics, among others.
In her address during the introduction of the subjects held at Igwebuike Grammar School, Awka, on Thursday, the Chairman Post Primary Schools Service Commission, PPSSC, Prof Nkechi Ikediugwu, said in today’s rapidly changing world, education must go beyond theory and examinations to equip students with practical skills, creativity, innovation and entrepreneural mindset.

She also pointed out that their goal is to prepare learners not just to seek jobs but to create value, generate eemployment,and contribute meaningfully to the economic development of Anambra State.
Speaking on “Building Entrepreneural Secondary Schools: Why Every School needs an Entrepreneurship Club”, Comrade Cyril Nwuche from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, explained that with the introduction of the entrepreneurial subjects, PPSSC is on the path to transform Anambra State economically and said that traditional academic instruction is no longer sufficient to prepare children for the future.
