ABUJA – Senator Abdulaziz Yari, former governor of Zamfara State, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for pulling Nigeria back from economic hardship.
In a statement issued on Friday through his technical committee representative, Comrade Okpokwu Ogenyi, Yari said the country is now on a steady path of progress under the Tinubu administration. He appealed to opposition parties to set aside hate and bitterness and recognise the gains recorded by the All Progressives Congress-led government.
Yari pointed to visible improvements in the education sector, noting that students no longer abandon their studies because of prolonged strikes or financial constraints. He also cited positive economic figures, including a drop in headline inflation to 15.06 per cent from a peak of 34 per cent, and foreign reserves now hovering around $50 billion.
The Zamfara West senator warned Nigerians against heeding what he described as lies and deliberate propaganda from critics. “We call on opposition figures and those who feel aggrieved as a result of the ongoing re-engineering and rebuilding of Nigeria by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led government to bury their anger and open their eyes to see the benefits of the ongoing reforms of this administration, as we believe no one can see clearly if eyes are closed,” the statement read.
NaijaChoice News reports that Yari’s remarks came on the eve of the APC national convention holding in Abuja from Friday through Saturday. President Tinubu, all 32 state governors, and over 8,450 delegates from across the country are attending the gathering at Eagle Square.
Party sources say the convention is meant to consolidate unity within the APC and review strategies ahead of future elections. Yari, a major stakeholder in the North-West, has consistently thrown his weight behind Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda in recent months.
