Moniepoint has acquired Orda Africa, a cloud-based restaurant management platform built for Nigerian food businesses. The deal brings Orda’s tools for orders, inventory, and operations directly into Moniepoint’s Moniebook platform, creating a single system tailored for restaurants, quick-service outlets, and food vendors.
NaijaChoice News reports that the acquisition, announced on March 23, covers Orda’s Nigerian operations and folds its team of about 25 specialists into Moniepoint. Orda, which already powers more than 1,000 restaurants and handled over 5.2 million transactions last year, will be rebranded as part of Moniebook for Restaurants.
Nigeria’s food service sector stands among the country’s fastest-growing industries. It employs millions and feeds millions more daily, yet many operators still rely on spreadsheets, manual stock counts, and separate apps for payments and sales. This fragmentation often limits their ability to scale or access credit when they need it most.
Orda was designed to fix exactly those headaches. Its platform handles point-of-sale transactions, real-time inventory tracking, automated reordering, staff scheduling, and branded microsites that let customers order directly. Moniepoint’s existing payment terminals and Microfinance Bank will now power seamless integration, including performance-based financing for qualifying businesses.
Restaurant owners will gain access to detailed reports on top-selling items, peak hours, and category performance, all in one dashboard. The combined solution also supports omnichannel orders from delivery platforms and walk-ins, while keeping everything reconciled automatically.
Moniepoint has spent the past decade building payment and business tools that help small and medium enterprises across Nigeria. With this move, the company is doubling down on the food sector, which analysts value at $50 billion continent-wide and project Nigeria’s share to reach $19.31 billion by 2030.
For food business owners in Lagos, Abuja, and beyond, the change means less time chasing paperwork and more time focusing on meals and customer experience. Moniepoint says the integration will roll out gradually, with existing Orda users migrating to the enhanced Moniebook environment.
The development reflects growing confidence in Nigeria’s fintech ecosystem. As more restaurants seek digital tools to survive rising costs and fierce competition, solutions like this could help thousands of operators turn survival into sustainable growth.
Moniepoint’s broader vision remains financial happiness for African businesses and individuals. By embedding restaurant-specific features into its infrastructure, the company is betting that better tools today will unlock bigger opportunities for the sector tomorrow.
