Popular TikTok streamer Habeeb Hamzat, better known as Peller, is facing a N395 million lawsuit from a Lagos woman who accuses him of defamation, cyber harassment and invasion of privacy following a heated confrontation at a popular eatery.

NaijaChoice News has sighted the pre-action letter dated March 10, 2026, and signed by Lagos lawyer Bola Osineye of FA Garrick & Co., on behalf of Osarobo Odigie. The claimant is demanding the huge sum as compensation after Peller allegedly abused her verbally, recorded her without consent and posted the clip online, where it went viral.

The incident happened in the early hours of January 6, 2026, at Folixxx Lounge along the Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos. According to the letter, Odigie was simply standing at the counter to buy food when Peller’s loud outburst startled her from behind.

“Our client was present at Folixxx Lounge… for the purpose of purchasing food. While standing at the counter/cashier area, our client was suddenly startled by your loud outburst directly behind her,” the letter stated.

When she stepped aside to avoid the noise, Peller allegedly confronted her aggressively. The lawyers claimed he shouted “shut up” and rained Yoruba insults on her, including “Oloriburuku,” “Omo Ale,” and “Ashawo.”

The law firm described the words as “untrue, ridiculing and defamatory,” deliberately uttered in public to humiliate their client.

Matters escalated when Peller reportedly pulled out his phone, filmed Odigie without her permission and immediately uploaded the video on Snapchat, WhatsApp, TikTok, Instagram and other platforms.

“You proceeded to escalate the situation by producing your mobile phone and using the same to record our client without her consent. You thereafter published the video… causing public ridicule of our client,” the letter added.

Peller, the 20-year-old Ikorodu-born content creator who boasts millions of followers across social media and is celebrated as one of Nigeria’s top young streamers, has a massive online presence. The clip spread like wildfire within hours, attracting thousands of comments that amplified the insults and triggered cyberbullying.

“Owing to your substantial online presence and following as a streamer and public influencer, the video went viral almost immediately… triggering thousands of comments, many of which reiterated and amplified your defamatory remarks against her,” the lawyers noted.

Odigie’s team claimed the exposure has caused her serious reputational damage, emotional trauma and even threats to her safety. “Our client has suffered significant emotional distress and has developed genuine fears for her safety,” the letter read.

The claimant is breaking down the N395 million demand as follows: N200 million for the defamatory publication, N100 million for emotional trauma and reputational harm, N75 million for cyberbullying and public threats, plus N20 million to cover legal fees and costs.

Beyond cash, the lawyers are insisting Peller must immediately delete the video from all his platforms, stop any further publication, and issue a full public apology on his social media handles as well as in two national dailies — The PUNCH and The Guardian.

The apology must admit that the statements were “false, malicious and injurious” to Odigie’s reputation. They also want him to contact third-party blogs and sites that reposted the video and ensure its removal within seven days.

“Should you fail, refuse, or neglect to comply… our client shall, without further recourse to you, institute appropriate legal proceedings against you,” the letter warned.

This latest move comes weeks after Peller publicly apologised to the woman on January 9, 2026, in a video where he admitted his reaction was out of character and expressed regret over the altercation.

As the seven-day ultimatum ticks, Nigerians are watching closely to see if the popular streamer will settle out of court or allow the matter to proceed to full litigation.
