Abuja – The National Caretaker Working Committee (NCWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has conducted an inspection of the proposed venue for the party’s upcoming National Convention scheduled to hold from March 29 to March 30, 2026.

As previously reported by NaijaChoice News, the PDP fixed the dates for the elective National Convention in Abuja following a crucial National Executive Committee meeting, setting the stage for the election of a new National Working Committee and other statutory organs as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.

The committee inspected the Velodrome of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, which has been proposed as the official venue for the highly anticipated convention. The inspection exercise was aimed at assessing the readiness, suitability, and logistical capacity of the facility ahead of the event, which is expected to attract party leaders, delegates, stakeholders, and observers from across the country and the diaspora.

Led by NCWC Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, members of the committee carefully reviewed key facilities at the venue, including seating arrangements, security provisions, accessibility, accommodation options, and other necessary infrastructure required to ensure a smooth and successful convention.

During the inspection, Chairman Mohammed expressed satisfaction with the facility and emphasised the need for meticulous preparation. “You can see for yourself, and that is why we are here this afternoon, to inspect the venue of the national convention coming up on the 29th and 30th of March, and to ensure that all necessary arrangements are in place before the date,” he stated.

He further assured that the committee is committed to delivering an unprecedented smooth convention, adding: “We are willing to do everything possible to make sure that we have a smooth national convention like never before.”

The NCWC also interacted with relevant officials and local organisers to align all arrangements with the party’s standards. Mohammed stressed the importance of unity following a recent favourable Court of Appeal judgment that reaffirmed the committee as the only legally recognised national leadership of the PDP.

“This victory is not for an individual or a group. It is a victory for all. We should put aside our differences and work together for the progress of the party,” he noted.

The PDP National Convention, scheduled for March 29–30, 2026, is expected to bring together statutory delegates from all 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, members of the National Executive Committee (NEC), party elders, and other key stakeholders to deliberate on important issues concerning the unity, growth, and progress of the party.

NCWC Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, reassured party members and aspirants that the court ruling has cleared all doubts regarding the committee’s authority to conduct the convention and subsequent primaries.

The PDP NCWC expressed optimism that the Velodrome at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium provides a suitable environment for hosting a successful, peaceful, and well-organised convention that will reposition the party firmly for the challenges ahead.
