President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday assured the nation that his administration’s tough economic reforms have delivered visible results, with every state now able to pay workers’ salaries without rushing to banks for emergency loans.

The President made the declaration while hosting an interfaith breaking-of-fast dinner at the Presidential Villa in Abuja for religious and traditional leaders from all six geopolitical zones. The gathering coincided with the fasting periods of Ramadan and Lent, bringing together Christian and Muslim leaders in a show of national unity.

“No governor in this country, in any of your states, is now running around the banks to borrow money to pay the salaries of their workers,” Tinubu stated emphatically.

He acknowledged that the journey had not been easy. “It was very daunting and very challenging when we took over, but today I can say with pride and joy that we are surviving and the economy has turned the corner,” the President added.

As previously reported by NaijaChoice News, many states across the federation faced severe financial difficulties in the early days of the administration, often resorting to heavy borrowing just to meet monthly salary obligations. Tinubu noted that those dark days are now behind, thanks to improved federal allocations and prudent management of state resources under his watch.

The President further revealed that pensioners are gradually receiving relief as targeted policies take effect. “We have saved Nigeria from bankruptcy,” he declared, stressing that the Federal Government remains focused on building a resilient economy for future generations.

Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to investing heavily in agriculture and education, describing these sectors as critical to creating jobs and securing a brighter future for Nigerian youths.

On the security front, the President assured Nigerians that the government is winning the war against terrorism and banditry, even as insurgents grow more desperate. “Yes, we are challenged; the terrorists are very desperate now because they are getting barraged and defeated… But I assure you of one thing: Nigeria will never surrender. We are not discouraged. We are going to win and win well,” he said.

Religious and traditional leaders at the event welcomed the President’s message. The Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, who represented the Sultan of Sokoto, described the interfaith gathering as a powerful symbol of unity, while Christian leader Rev. Dr. Daniel Okoh pledged the continued support of the church for the administration’s efforts to transform the economy and strengthen national security.

President Tinubu thanked the leaders for their prayers and moral guidance, promising to sustain the current trajectory of economic recovery and national stability.

The remarks have sparked fresh optimism among Nigerians who have endured the initial pains of subsidy removal and currency reforms, with many now looking forward to further dividends of the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
