Tonto Dikeh Drops ‘King Title’, Embraces Evanglist Identity

Popular Nollywood actress and politician, Tonto Charity Dikeh, has stirred the internet with a major announcement regarding her preferred title.

The Rivers State-born star, known for her bold persona, took to social media to reveal that she will no longer be addressed as King Tonto Dikeh.

In a video that has since gone viral, Tonto Dikeh stated that the decision was made in obedience to the Holy Spirit.

“I will no longer be addressed as King Tonto Dikeh from today onward. You can call me ‘the woman of God’, ‘Evangelist Tonto Dikeh’, or ‘Auntie Tonto’,” she declared.

She further explained in her message: “In obedience to the Holy Spirit, I make this declaration… You can call me the woman of God, Evangelist Tonto, Tonto Dikeh, Aunty Tonto, or Big T. Whichever one suits you, but I will no longer be addressed as King Tonto, and this is on the instructions of the Holy Spirit.”

This change comes after eight years of proudly using the ‘King Tonto’ moniker, which she officially adopted in 2018 following her separation from ex-husband Olakunle Churchill. At the time, the title was seen as a symbol of her strength and independence as she navigated life as a single mother to their son, King.

The actress, who turned 40 recently, has been on a powerful spiritual journey lately. She graduated from a discipleship class at Pastor Jerry Eze’s Streams of Joy International in February, reconciled with her ex, and even joined the church’s Temple Keepers Department full-time. Many believe this latest move is just another step in her transformation from “mess to message,” as she often says.

Fans and netizens have reacted in different ways to the news. While thousands have hailed her spiritual rebirth with prayers and words of encouragement, others are skeptical, with some throwing subtle shades on social media platforms.
