Member, House of Representatives Committee on Electoral Affairs, Hon Fred Agbedi, has hailed the action of the opposition on the floor of the House on Tuesday during the session on the e-transmission of election results.

Fielding questions in an interview on ‘Politics Today’, a programme on Channels Television on Tuesday, Agbedi said the opposition really stood for Nigeria and its people.

He was speaking about the rowdy session at the House of Representatives over real-time transmission of election results.

DAILY POST reports that some members of the House of Representatives on Tuesday walked out of the House in protest against the move to reverse the passage of the Electoral Act Amendment bill.

Reacting, the lawmaker said, “The Reps members were chanting as they staged a walk out of the House. It showed their displeasure.

It couldn’t have led to that level but I say kudos to the opposition. They made me proud. They did their best. They stood for Nigeria and Nigerians, and for the right thing to be done.

“However, I think that chanting got to the point when the majority part, APC, decided to make it a party affair.”

It would be recalled that members of the House of Representatives chanted “APC Ole,” following the adoption of Clause 60(3) of the Electoral Act Amendment Bill.
