Lagos Woman Shares Bitter Journey from Betrayal to Lesbian Lifestyle, Now Desperate to Reunite with Ex-Husband

A heart-wrenching tale has emerged from a Lagos-based woman who opened up about her turbulent life after discovering her husband’s affair with their nanny, leading her down an unexpected path of self-discovery that she now deeply regrets.

The woman, who chose to remain anonymous for fear of stigma, recounted how the betrayal shattered her marriage and pushed her into a new circle of friends that initially seemed supportive but ultimately introduced her to a lifestyle she never imagined.

“I became a lesbian after I caught my husband sleeping with my nanny and I divorced him,” she confessed in a detailed message shared with NaijaChoice News. “I met a new group of friends on Facebook, told them about my husband and how he cheated on me with my nanny. They told me to forget about my husband and live a happy life.”

She explained that these friends helped her heal through travels and fun outings, but the group’s true nature soon revealed itself. “Little did I know that they were lesbians. They introduced me to using intimacy gadgets and lesbianism,” she added.

When she expressed discomfort with the lifestyle, the group allegedly arranged for her to meet a younger man for sexual satisfaction. “All these women are divorced and using child support to sponsor their lifestyle,” she noted, highlighting how the experience left her even more embittered.

Now, reflecting on her choices, the woman admitted, “Seeing myself doing this, I got more bitter and want to go back to my husband. I don’t know how to start the process.”

This story echoes a growing trend of post-divorce regrets among Nigerian women, where infidelity often sparks hasty decisions with long-lasting consequences. A similar account surfaced online where a woman claimed Nigerian men’s infidelity drove her to lesbianism, only for her new partner to cheat as well, underscoring that betrayal knows no gender. Another viral confession from a Nigerian lady detailed regretting her divorce after seven years of marriage due to her husband’s cheating, describing the emotional toll and longing for her ex.

Experts attribute such experiences to the rising divorce rates in Nigeria, which have surged in urban areas like Lagos. Recent reports indicate that divorce petitions in places like Ogun State doubled from 535 in 2017 to over 1,000 by 2019, with many cases stemming from infidelity and economic pressures. Cultural norms, where men face less repercussions for cheating compared to women, further fuel these breakdowns, as one woman publicly stated she would seek “peace from another source” if married to an adulterous husband.

However, the involvement of same-sex relationships adds a layer of risk in Nigeria, where such acts are illegal under the Same-Sex Marriage Prohibition Act of 2013. The law bans same-sex unions and imposes up to 14 years imprisonment, with even harsher penalties in northern states under Sharia law. A systematic review of trends in sub-Saharan Africa, including Nigeria, notes that same-sex identities often face societal disgust rooted in cultural and religious beliefs, making open discussions rare and dangerous.

Family counselors in Lagos advise those seeking reconciliation to start with open communication, possibly through mutual friends or professional mediation. “Infidelity hurts, but rushing into new lifestyles can lead to more pain,” said Dr. Aisha Bello, a marriage therapist in Ikeja. “Couples should consider therapy before divorce, and for those regretting it, humility and forgiveness are key steps back.“

This woman’s plea serves as a cautionary tale amid Nigeria’s evolving family dynamics, where social media influences and economic independence are reshaping relationships, but traditional values still clash with modern temptations.
